Description
The north and east boundary walls and railings to East Stoke Cottage date from the 18th and 19th centuries. They are constructed from ham stone coursed rubble and feature ashlar piers. The walls have 'battlemented' tops with alternating long and short vertical stones. The square piers are topped with pyramidal caps and have curved sweeps on the sides. There is a gateway opposite the house door with single-stone gateposts, and at the north-east corner, there is an additional pier with a ball finial on a simple base. The east boundary is marked by plain railings with necked pointed tops, set on an ashlar stone base wall, standing about 1.5 metres high. There is another pier with a ball finial at the south end. These walls and railings are significant to the setting of East Stoke Cottage and contribute to the overall streetscape.
