Description
Four Steps is a seal-detached cottage, likely an early 19th-century alteration of 17th-century work. It is constructed from Ham stone that is cut and squared, with ashlar dressings. The roof is plain clay tiles with a coped west gable and features a brick chimney stack. The cottage has two storeys and two bays. It includes hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, with a 2-light window above and 3 and 4-light windows below, the lower windows having labels. To the left of the first bay, there is a boarded door in a heavy frame with four steps leading up to it, topped by a 20th-century plain timber hood supported by wrought-iron brackets. There is also a 20th-century window in the west gable and a small extension at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
