Description
Spring Mead is a detached cottage, likely built in the early 19th century, with elements from earlier periods. It features Ham stone that is near ashlar, and a 20th-century rebuild on the west side made from roughly squared and coursed rubble. The roof is plain clay tiles, set between stepped coped gables, and there is a stone rubble chimney stack.
The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. It has hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in shallow chamfered recesses, with labels above the lower windows. The upper windows are two-light, topped with small pitched roof gables, while the lower windows are also two-light, with an additional two-light window at mezzanine level between the second and third bays. The lower bay of the third section features a moulded cambered-arched doorway beneath a deep lintel with a label. The first bay was rebuilt in the mid-20th century, and the west gable has a blocked doorway at first floor level. A small stone porch has been added to the rear of the east gable. The interior has not been seen.
