Description

East Stoke Lodge is a detached house dating from the 17th century. It is built from cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings and features double Roman clay tiles, which have replaced thatch as noted in January 1950. The building has high stepped coped gables and yellow brick chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has four bays. The windows are hollow-chamfered mullioned types set in chamfered recesses, with two-light windows above and three-light windows below, the latter featuring labels. All windows have rectangular leaded panes and some include iron-framed opening lights. Between the lower bays two and three, there are blank sections below a doorway with similar mouldings, which may have been a converted window, featuring a 20th-century part-glazed door. There is a lean-to extension against the west gable that has a 20th-century mullioned window. The main entrance is located in the east gable, with the doorway appearing to be from the 20th century, and there is a further extension to the rear. The interior has not been seen.
