Description
The gateway to Easton House, which is now demolished, dates from the mid to late 19th century and includes attached walling that extends approximately 55 meters to the entrance of the churchyard. On each side of the gateway, there are a pair of square brick piers connected by an entablature featuring moulded stonework. The piers have buttresses with pedimented cornices, and the inner piers are topped with openwork iron spheres on scrolled supports, while the outer piers are crowned by stone spheres. Wrought iron gates are set between the piers. Flanking the gateway are curved sections of railings that end in heavier square piers with similar detailing. The walling attached to the east is made of red brick and features heavy square panel led piers in white brick, consisting of eight bays and standing about 3 meters high. This walling is a significant feature of the village center.
