Description

Church View is a late 17th-century house which was substantially refronted in the early 19th century. It is two storeys high with an attic, and comprises two window bays for the main house (No. 6) and one window bay for the adjoining property (No. 6A). The building has a slate roof and rubble walls. Originally a single dwelling, No. 6 retains two windows with their original glazing bars, and a half-glazed door with side-lights. The first floor overhangs slightly. No. 6A has a stuccoed front with sash windows, also retaining original glazing bars, and a modern glazed door to the left. Internal features apparently include stop-chamfered spine beams and plank and muntin partitions.

Church View and the adjacent No. 6A form a group with Nos. 7 to 10 and the Old Police Station. The building closes the view to the west of Nos. 1 to 4 in Monmouth Street.
