Description

No. 4 Monmouth Street is an 18th-century building that was refronted in the first half of the 18th century. It is three storeys high and has three windows on the second floor and four on the first floor. The exterior is constructed of squared and coursed blue lias rubble with Ham Hill stone dressings, including a plinth and quoins. It features sash windows with glazing bars and lugs. The doorcase is a modern replica, and includes Ionic pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. Nos. 1 to 4 Monmouth Street form a group and are viewed in relation to Nos. 6 and 6A Coombe Street, which close the view to the west.
