Description

Nos. 6 and 8 Drybridge Street Rendered and painted, probably over some timber framing, interlocking concrete tile roof. Two storey and attic single depth house with an additional wing to No.6 and a lean-to outshut to No. 8. Three windows and two doors to the ground floor, W : D : W : D : W. Canted bay to the left, then a part glazed door with 3 x 3 panes; above is a small paned casement in a half dormer. To the right (No. 8) is a more balnaced front with central door, late C20 Victorian type door with two glazed panels and a voussoir head with a keystone, this is flanked by 3-light Victorian type casements with voussoir heads and keystones. The first floor has similar but 2-light casements flanking a blank panel which once carried the name of the public house. Addded gable above with two more 2-light casements. Steeply pitched wavy roof with a stack on either ridge. Right return is blind. Rear elevation has been modernised.

No. 8 is two bays of what was originally a 3-unit house parallel with the street.

The original form of this house is best seen in the attic room where the front gable can be clearly seen as an addition. Some timber framing with queen strut roof trusses, principal rafters and purlins. Any surviving features on the ground floor are hidden by later alterations and the staircase is a replacement one.
