Description

The Laurels & Ivy Cottage Early C19 house with small attached wing, now divided into two properties, The Laurels and No. 2 Drybridge Street. Main elevation roughcast and lined out as stone, Welsh slate roof with red brick stacks. Three storeys, three windows. Double fronted central entrance plan with projecting rear wing. Six panel door, partially glazed, with wood architrave and hood on brackets. Ground floor windows are 8 over 8 pane sashes; first floor has a 6 over 6 above the door and this is flanked by 8 over 8 to the left and 2 over 2 to the right; the top floor has 4 over 8 flanking 3 over 6. Hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves, stack on either gable wall. Spiked wrought iron railings and gate attached to front. Small one storey extension (No. 2) on right. This has an early C20 door with a small hood and a steel casement to the right, plain roof. The gable returns are blind with the stacks expressed. Rear elevation has a projecting wing to the left (No. 2). Canted oriel on the first floor and tripartite sash with glazing bars above, hipped roof end. To the right (The Laurels) is an arched stair window, a 6 over 6 pane sash with a steel casement above it and a small single storey wing.

No. 2 comproses the right hand bay of the main house and the small wing to the right with the entrance. It has the projecting wing at the rear.
