Description

The Diamond Jubilee Drinking Fountain is made of red sandstone ashlar and stands on a two-step plinth. It features a recessed Norman style arched alcove, with matching doorways at the adjacent Church of St. Thomas. The alcove is adorned with three-quarter columns and dog tooth decoration. Above the drinking basin, there is a relief of the royal insignia 'VR' and a crown. The basin is supported by colonnettes, and below it is a brass inscription that reads: 'ERECTED BY SUBSCRIPTION TO COMMEMORATE THE DIAMOND JUBILEE OF QUEEN VICTORIA.' There is also a dog trough located below the basin.
