Description

Nos. 25-35 (odd) Drybridge Street is a range of six small houses built in the 19th century. The buildings are rendered and painted, featuring applied mock timber framing above. They have a Welsh slate roof with three red brick chimneys. The houses are arranged parallel to the street, with each pair sharing a gable that projects forward. They are two storeys high with a double depth plan and rear extensions, and each house has two bays.

On the ground floor, there are doorways set in three pairs aligned beneath the gables, each with flush panelled doors. The ground floor also features six 6 over 6-pane sash windows that align with those above. The upper floor has six 3 over 6-pane windows, and among the three gables, only the central gable contains a 6-pane window. Each gable has four moulded wooden panels that imitate decorative plasterwork, set within timber framing, with two panels for each house. Above the door heads on the ground floor are larger similar panels, generally three for each house, although two above the doorway of No. 33 have been lost. The gables are adorned with bargeboards and spike finials. The roof is plain and has three distinct chimney stacks: one at the junction between Nos. 31 and 33 with a decorative shape, another between Nos. 27 and 29 featuring a group of six diamond-plan flues on a rectangular plinth, and a plain rectangular chimney at the right gable end of No. 25.

The rear elevation has various extensions and modernisations. The interiors have not been seen during the recent survey, but they may contain evidence of earlier fabric.
