Description

Nos. 25-35 Drybridge Street is a range of six small houses, built parallel to the street, likely in the 18th century. The front is rendered and painted, with applied mock timber framing above a Welsh slate roof. Each pair of houses shares a gable that projects forward. The houses are two storeys high and have a double-depth plan with rear extensions; each house has two bays.

The doorways are set in three aligned pairs beneath the projecting gables, with flush panelled doors. There are six matching 6 over 6-pane sash windows on the ground floor, aligned with those above. Six 3 over 6-pane windows light the upper floor. The three gables each have four moulded wooden panels imitating decorative plasterwork, set within the mock timber framing; two panels are present on each gable, with larger versions above the ground-floor door heads. However, two of these upper panels have been lost above the doorway of No. 33. The gables have bargeboards and spike finials.

The roof is plain, with three chimneys of differing designs. One chimney, situated between Nos. 31 and 33, has a decorative shape. To its right, between Nos. 27 and 29, is a chimney constructed as a group of six diamond-plan flues on a rectangular plinth. The chimney at the right gable end (No. 25) is simpler and rectangular. The rear elevation has seen various extensions and modernisations.

Although the interiors were not inspected, there may be evidence of earlier fabric.
