Description
31 Drybridge Street is part of a row of six small houses built in the 19th century. The houses are rendered and painted, featuring applied mock timber framing above. They have a Welsh slate roof and three red brick chimneys. The houses are arranged parallel to the street, with each pair sharing a gable that projects forward.
Each house is two storeys tall with a double depth plan and rear extensions, consisting of two bays. On the ground floor, there are doorways set in three pairs aligned beneath the gables, featuring flush panelled doors. The ground floor also has six 6 over 6-pane sash windows that align with those on the upper floor, which has six 3 over 6-pane windows. The three gables are adorned with a 6-pane window only in the central gable. Each gable has four moulded wooden panels that imitate decorative plasterwork, set within timber framing, with two panels for each house. Above the ground floor door heads, there are similar but larger panels, generally three for each house, although two panels above the doorway of No. 33 are missing. The gables feature bargeboards and spike finials. The roof is plain and has three distinct chimney stacks: one at the junction between Nos. 31 and 33 with a decorative shape, another between Nos. 27 and 29 with six diamond-plan flues on a rectangular plinth, and a plain rectangular chimney at the right gable end of No. 25.
The rear elevation has various extensions and modernisations. The interiors have not been seen, but they may contain evidence of earlier fabric.
