Description

33 Drybridge Street is part of a row of six small houses, numbered 25 to 35, built in the 19th century. The houses are rendered and painted, featuring applied mock timber framing above. They have a Welsh slate roof and three red brick chimneys. The buildings are arranged parallel to the street, with each pair sharing a gable that projects forward.

These two-storey houses have a double depth plan with rear extensions and two bays each. On the ground floor, there are doorways set in three pairs, aligned beneath the gables, with flush panelled doors. The ground floor also features six 6 over 6-pane sash windows that align with those above. The upper floor has six 3 over 6-pane windows, and among the three gables, only the central gable contains a 6-pane window. Each gable has four moulded wooden panels that imitate decorative plasterwork, set within timber framing, with two panels for each house. Above the door heads on the ground floor are larger similar panels, generally three for each house, although two above the doorway of No. 33 are missing. The gables are adorned with bargeboards and spike finials. The roof is plain and features three distinct chimney stacks: one at the junction of Nos. 31 and 33 with a decorative shape, another between Nos. 27 and 29 with a group of six diamond-plan flues on a rectangular plinth, and a plain rectangular chimney at the right gable end of No. 25.

The rear elevation shows various extensions and modernisations. The interiors have not been seen during the recent survey, but they may contain evidence of earlier fabric.
