Description
6-8 High Street is a pair of late Georgian houses built from coursed rubble stone, featuring a graded slate roof and end stacks that have been rebuilt in brick. The buildings stand three storeys tall, each with a single window range, creating a nearly symmetrical appearance. The central doorways are paired and have replaced panelled doors with radial-glazed overlights above. The windows flanking the doors consist of 16-pane hornless sashes on the right and paired 8-pane horned sashes on the left, with hornless sashes of 12 and 9 panes aligned on the first and second storeys. All window and door openings have flat arched stone voussoir heads.
The left gable end of No 8 is rendered due to the removal of an attached house and features a coped stone wall that flanks a gateway leading to a car park behind. At the rear, there are doorways with shallow segmental heads on the inner sides, each fitted with replaced boarded doors. No 6 is otherwise blank at the back, while No 8 has had 4-pane sash windows inserted on each storey. This pair of houses is part of a group that includes 6-8 High Street.
