Description

The Bible Christian chapel, now used as an office and workshop, was built in 1842 and subsequently altered. Constructed of stone rubble with a rendered front, the chapel has a hipped roof covered in bitumenised slate. Originally designed with a single auditorium, it features an entrance on the west front and is oriented with the ritual east side to the rear. The symmetrical front elevation is two storeys high. The ground floor contains a pointed arched doorway with a 20th-century panelled door, topped by a hood mould with terracotta stops. A granite datestone to the right displays the inscription "BIBLE CHRISTIAN CHAPEL 1842" in sanserif capital letters. Above, at the first floor level, are a pair of blind lancet windows with a hood mould that extends above the parapet. The rear of the building has double doors on the left side. Two windows are located on the first floor, originally containing 12-pane lights, and are set within cambered stone arches with keystones. The interior has been entirely stripped of its original chapel furnishings.
