Description
40 Fore Street is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century, with later 19th-century alterations. The building is rendered and lined out, likely built with brick walls. It has a bitumenised slate roof featuring ridge tiles and gable ends. The left gable end has a stack with a rendered shaft, while the stack on the right has been demolished. The house has a double depth plan, with principal rooms of equal size located at the front right and left, and a central entrance that likely leads to service rooms at the rear. The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes with cambered arches. The central entrance features a 20th-century half-glazed door with an overlight. The left side of the building is in brick and is blind. The interior has not been inspected.
