Description
This is a house located approximately 150 metres north of West Park, dating from the early 19th century with an extension added in the later 19th century. It is constructed of roughly coursed stone ashlar and features a rag slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks. The original plan consists of a two-room layout with a cross passage, heated by end stacks. The later extension has a one-room plan, also heated by an end stack, and a 20th-century porch has been added to the front right.
The building is two storeys high and has a regular three-to-one window arrangement, with the later 19th-century extension on the right. It features dressed stone segmental arches and early 19th-century 16-pane sash windows. On the ground floor, two sashes flank a 20th-century door, with two sashes above. There is a blind window above the entrance, and to the right, the 20th-century porch has a later 19th-century 16-pane sash above it.
The interior has not been inspected. This cottage is one of three similar cottages located on the west side of an unspoilt and picturesque valley, alongside West Park and another adjoining cottage located 90 metres to the northwest of West Park.
