Description
Ruthernbridge Wesleyan Methodist Chapel and the attached coach house were built in 1879. The chapel is constructed from squared slatestone rubble and features rusticated granite quoins. It has a slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles and terracotta finials on the gable ends.
The chapel has a single auditorium plan, with the ritual east located at the rear and an entrance through a porch at the front gable end. The exterior showcases a front gable end with a gable porch that includes a pointed arched light with cast iron glazing bars, lead rosettes, and margin glazing. To the right of the porch is a door with a shouldered arch, while tall pointed arched windows are found to the left and right. A central recessed granite datestone bears the inscription "WESLEYAN METHODIST 1879" in upper case lettering. Both the left and right sides of the building feature three similar pointed arched windows.
At the rear of the chapel is a single-storey coach house, which includes double doors and a single door, as well as a gable end stack with a brick shaft. Inside the chapel, there are plain wooden benches and a rostrum, though the interior is not fully accessible.
