Description

Tremore Lodge is a circa 1840 lodge, originally serving Tremore Manor. It has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of granite and slatestone rubble with granite and brick dressings, and has a hipped slate roof with lead rolls to the hips and ridge tiles. The axial stacks have brick shafts.

The lodge follows a 3-room plan, with one room in the front bay and two rooms behind. A rear service wing of one-room plan is integral to the right side. Designed in the Gothic style, it is single-storey with an attic room.

The front elevation features a canted bay extending through the full height. The central pointed arched doorway has a decorative bride arch and a door with decorative strap hinges. Pointed arched casements with two lights are positioned on either side of the doorway, set within chamfered granite surrounds. There’s a scalloped eaves valance. The right side of the building has two similar casements. A screen wall attached to the rear right has a single pointed arched light connecting the lodge to an outhouse on the right side, now a garage. A further casement and a 20th-century door are on the left side. A gabled dormer with a two-light pointed arched window with lattic glazing is on the left side of the first floor. The rear service wing is single-storey with a 20th-century window at ground floor level. A 20th-century dormer is present on the first floor of the rear wing.

The interior was not inspected and has been significantly altered in the 20th century.
