Description

This lodge, located approximately 500 metres to the northeast of Tremough, dates from the late 19th century and serves as the entrance to Tremough Convent. It is constructed from dressed granite, laid to course, with granite dressings, and features a dry Delabole slate hipped roof. The building has two dressed granite axial stacks, with one stack likely added later, and a rendered chimney on the right-hand wall.

The lodge has a moulded wooden eaves cornice and cast-iron ogee-section gutters. The plan consists of a double-depth layout with two equal-sized rooms at the front flanking an entrance hall, and probably two service rooms at the rear. The exterior is a single storey with unaltered elevations, retaining its original doors and windows.

The symmetrical southwest front has two windows and a central doorway. The round-headed doorway features a pair of three-panel doors, with the upper four panels glazed. A granite porch with rock-faced columns and a hood supported by moulded brackets enhances the entrance. The round-headed keyed window openings contain four-pane horned sashes, and rock-faced quoin strips add to the building's character. The interior has not been inspected.
