Description
The lodge at the main entrance to Trengwainton House dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of incised stucco and features a hipped dry Delabole slate roof. There is an axial chimney located over the middle of the lodge and another chimney at the rear gable end, both topped with original octagonal clay chimney pots. The building has a T-shaped layout with four rooms and a short wing at the rear right, which runs parallel to the front.
The lodge is a single-storey structure with a symmetrical east front that has two windows and a central doorway. It has a granite plinth and clasping pilaster corners. The entrance is framed by a distyle Doric porch with a triangular pediment, leading to a six-panel door that features flush-beaded bottom panels. The original two-light casements with marginal panes are present throughout the building. The interior has not been inspected.
