Pond Lodge

Pond Lodge is a lodge located on the west driveway of the Trelowarren estate, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features elvan ashlar stone in diminishing courses on the front, with dressed coarsed elvan used elsewhere, along with elvan sills and archstones for the pointed arches. The roof is made of dry Delabole slate, which sweeps lower over a pentise or verandah, and includes a central open shaped gable at the front with shaped barge boards on each gable end. There is a brick axial chimney situated in the middle of the building.

The lodge has a two-room plan with a central lobby entrance at the middle of the front, and is designed in a Gothic style. It is a single storey plus attic structure with a symmetrical two-window front facing southwest. The front features a three-bay open verandah supported by four chamfered wooden posts on stone plinths, enclosing a cobbled walkway. The central arched doorway has the original Y traceried door, and there is a window above the doorway with an open gable in front. The left and right-hand windows, as well as the ground floor and gable windows, have pointed arched openings with Y-tracery. The gable windows still retain their original diamond leaded panes. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is presumed that this lodge was used in some way in conjunction with the ornamental pond and may have served as a summer house.
