GV II

Lodge. Circa mid-late C19. Dressed serpentine brought to course with dressed granite quoins, sills, archstones and lintels. Dry delabole slate roof with glazed ridge tiles; projecting eaves and verges with cusped and pierced wooded barge boards with wheel cross terminal medallion pendants. Symmetrical plan with two principal rooms flanking central stair, kitchen/living room, left, and parlour right. In front of the stair vestibule, a projecting 2 storey porch. Chimneys over back wall and a slightly later single storey service wing at right angles behind the kitchen. Tudor-Gothic style elements. Two-storeys. Symmetrical 1:1:1 bay, 3-window front with central projecting 2 storey gabled entrance bay with central 4-centred arched doorway. Original 4-panel door has flush-beaded bottom panels and glazed panels above. The front window openings are tall and narrow with 2 light wooden mullioned windows with 2-pane casement in each light. The gable end windows are similar but wider, 4 light to ground floor and 3- light above. The light coloured dressed granite is in contrast to the dark green Serpentine. Interior has the original dog-leg stair with turned newel post and ball finials. Large fireplace in the left hand room.
