Description
The Bothy and potting shed is a gardener's cottage that likely started as a store, built around the early 19th century and early 20th century. It features granite rubble with granite dressings for the house and a brick potting shed. The house has a hipped scantle slate roof, while the potting shed has a hipped asbestos slate roof arranged in a diamond pattern. The building has a rectangular plan, probably consisting of two rooms, with a store set back on the left side that has a large doorway at the front. The potting shed is located at the far left.
The exterior has a slightly irregular two-window south front, with the house on the right and a doorway towards the left. It includes a ledged door and late 19th century six-pane horned sash windows. At the right end of the first floor, there is a former loading doorway. The potting shed has a mostly glazed front with small paned casements. The interior has not been inspected. This building is associated with the planned grounds and kitchen garden walls that were constructed in 1814 when Sir Rose Price, a West Indian sugar planter, enlarged Trengwainton House.
