Description
No. 7 and 9 Church Street is a shop and house with origins likely dating back to the 18th century. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks. The original layout was probably a single-depth plan with two rooms and a passage, which has been divided to create a shop on the left and a house with an entrance on the far right. In the 19th century, the building was extended to the rear with an outshot extension.
The exterior consists of two storeys and has a regular three-window front. The first-floor openings have segmental arches. The shop on the left includes a large plate glass window, while the right side features a 19th-century 12-pane sash window and door. The first floor has three 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows. The building is part of a group in Church Street.
