Description

This is a school and school house, likely dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone rubble with a slate roof, featuring gable ends. The building consists of a main range with a 2-storey wing to the front left and a single-storey wing to the front right, both with gabled ends. A projecting stone rubble stack is located at the rear left. The original layout is uncertain, but the main range has a rectangular plan and was originally heated by a stack at rear left. The building includes an entrance near the centre, with a 1-room wing to the front left and a single-storey, 1-room wing to the front right. The front elevation facing Ruthy's Lane has a double-gabled design featuring two 2-light casement windows of probable 20th-century origin. An elevation to Church Street displays two 2-light casements set within blocked door openings, along with a 20th-century window on the far right. The interior has not been inspected.
