Description
No 24 is a house and shop located on the north side of Fore Street in Lostwithiel. It dates from the mid-18th century and was refronted around the mid-19th century, with a shop front added around 1900 and further alterations made later. The building is constructed of rubble that has been rendered and lined out, topped with an asbestos slate roof featuring crested ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end stacks.
The layout is a double depth plan, with the entrance on the right leading to a passage. The principal room on the front left has been converted into a shop, while a smaller room is on the left. The building has two storeys and three windows. The ground floor features a doorway with a hipped lead hood, a six-panelled door with panelled cheeks and soffit, and to the right, a plate-glass sash window with sidelights set in a raised architrave with a keystone. To the left is a large eight-pane shop front with a plain fascia.
On the first floor, there are three four-pane sash windows in raised architraves with keystones, and a moulded eaves cornice. The internal porch includes a half-glazed door leading to the shop on the left and a half-glazed door to the house, which has a blocked overlight. The interior has not been inspected.
