Description
No 20 King Street is a house and shop that dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a later outshut. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with red brick dressings and stacks. It has two storeys and features two first floor windows.
To the right of the centre is a 19th century shop front, which includes three reeded pilasters flanking a part-glazed door with an overlight that has radial glazing bars on the right, and a two-pane shop window on the left. The shop front has a fascia, cornice, and hood. On either side of the shop front are 16-pane flush sash windows with stucco flat arches and sills; the window on the left has a blocked former shop door to the right.
The first floor has 12-pane sliding sash windows beneath segmental brick arches, with a fascia board between them. The building features dentilled brick eaves, end stacks, and a brick coped and tumbled gable. The left return of the building has a re-set late 18th century to early 19th century 15-pane bow window on the ground floor.
