Description
No 24 Market Place is a house and shop dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of rendered brick and features a pantiled roof with a single gable stack. The gable is stone-coped with a kneeler on the left side.
The front of the building is three storeys high and has two bays. There is an off-centre glazed door with a painted-out overlight, set within a panelled wooden doorcase that has a plain entablature. To the left of the main entrance, there is a small round-headed doorway leading to a rear passage, which has a 20th-century door. To the right, there is a canted bay shop window with wooden panels that match the adjacent door.
On the upper floors, there are two bordered sash windows on the first floor and two smaller similar windows on the second floor. All windows have plain surrounds. This building is included in the listing for its group value.
