The Barn At Approx 70M North West Of Trelissick House

The Barn, located approximately 70 meters northwest of Trelissick House, is a bank barn with a waggon store underneath, which has been partly converted into a restaurant. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed from slatestone rubble, featuring brick piers and arches. The roof is made of scantle slate and was reslated around the 1970s. The barn has a rectangular plan and is built into the bank at the rear (north) while being partly open at the front (south). The south front includes two original slit ventilators on the first floor and an original six-bay arcade of waggon entrances, with cambered arches supported by slender piers. There are 20th-century iron tie-rod retaining plates over the piers. The first-floor windows consist of two 12-pane sashes and others with vertical glazing bars, which are 20th-century insertions. The interior features an original pine king post roof structure. The barn is included for its group value.
