Description

The Coach House and Stable Block at Trelissick House is a coach house and stable block built in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of brick laid in English bond and features hipped roofs made of scantle slate and dry Delabole slate. The building has a U-shaped plan, with a central coach house flanked by projecting wings for stables, and a brick wall between the wings at the front, which encloses a courtyard. There is an outshut at the rear of the left (north) wing.

The coach house is two storeys tall, while the wings are single storey. The front of the coach house has a symmetrical arrangement of bays, consisting of two bays on either side of a central bay that is set forward. This central bay has a carriageway beneath a cambered arch, with similar arches above the lower doorways of the flanking bays. The doors are boarded, and there are square 12-pane hornless sash windows on the first floor, each with shallow arches above. The structure features a plinth, a mid-floor string course on the flanking bays, and a cornice made of two courses of diagonally set bricks. At the top, there is a clock with a pyramidal roof and a weathervane. The wings for stabling include doorways and windows that overlook the courtyard, with shallow arches, except for two doorways in the south wing that have basket arches, and a doorway with a round-headed arch in the left (north) wing. The interior has not been inspected.
