Description

Ferris Cottage is a small house built in the 18th century, originally for the estate gardener. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and cob, with an asbestos slate roof that was formerly thatched, featuring brick chimneys at the gable ends. The house has a two-room plan, with the right-hand room being larger, and a later lean-to added at the east end. It stands two storeys tall and has a slightly irregular three-window south front. The ground floor features wider windows and a wide doorway, which is off-centre to the left and contains a four-panel door. The lean-to on the right has a doorway to the left. The windows are 20th-century 12-pane two-light casements. The eaves were raised around the late 19th century. The interior has been largely renewed, with a 20th-century floor and a roof structure from the late 19th century. The cottage overlooks King Harry Passage on the River Fal and is included for its group value.
