Description
The coach house and stable at number 270 is a late 18th-century building located on Hallgate in Cottingham. It is constructed of brick with a colour-washed finish and features a pantiled roof. The central block is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with lower wings extending to both the right and left.
The main section has a double-leaf boarded door on the left, which is set under a segmental arch, and a single boarded door on the right. There are small louvred openings under segmental arches on both sides. On the first floor, there is a central taking-in door, with a four-pane window to the right that has timber pigeon-holes beneath it, and a louvred opening to the left. The building is topped with a dentilled brick eaves cornice, a hipped roof, and has stacks at both ends.
The single-bay wings on the right and left each have a boarded door on the left under a segmental arch, while the right wing features a blank opening, also under a segmental arch. The structure is finished with ramped coped parapets.
