Description
Old Manor House is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century. It is timber framed with brick infilling and has some 20th-century additions made of coursed rubble, topped with pantiled roofs. The building has two storeys and four bays, featuring a projecting 20th-century porch at the second bay. The timber framing consists of heavy, jowled wall posts with a first-floor rail and a wallplate, connected by simple scarf joints and supported by arch-braces. Inside, there are cambered tie beams that are also braced to the wall-posts. The framing remains largely intact, although some ground-floor studs have been removed due to the brick infilling, which originally included two studs per bay. The ground floor has 20th-century three-light sliding sash windows, while the first floor also features 20th-century three-light sliding sash windows. The interior includes principal and secondary joists that all have narrow chamfers with run-out stops.
