Description

Nos 6 and 7 are two adjoining cottages, likely built in the 18th to early 19th century, with a slight extension from the 20th century. They are constructed of painted slatestone rubble, with some slate hanging, and feature hipped roofs mostly covered in scantle slate, along with gable ends on the rear of the right and middle rear wings. The cottages have axial and lateral brick stacks and an E-shaped single depth plan, now with small flat-roofed bathroom extensions that partly fill the space between the wings. The buildings are single storey over a fish cellar and have four windows facing south towards the harbour front, which is built behind a harbour wall that rises to sill level. The eaves line is slightly higher over the left bay. The front features 20th-century PVC windows, while the west side has 16 and 12-pane horned sashes, which were probably originally all hornless sashes with glazing bars. Although there have been superficial alterations in the 20th century, the basic structure remains intact, and the cottages occupy a prominent position on the harbour front, flanked by slipways. The interior has not been inspected.
