Description
The Harbour Quay is a quay that likely dates from the 18th century and was extended in the 19th century. It is constructed from slatestone rubble with granite copings, bollards, and steps. The earlier section of the quay runs at right angles to the harbour front shoreline, while the later section is at an obtuse angle to this. The earlier part features vertically set stones, whereas the later section has rubble laid horizontally. There is additional shelter on the seaward side with granite coping. Each part of the quay has one flight of steps. The copings are reinforced with iron staples, and the bollards, which are likely from the 20th century, on the older part are connected by tubular iron or steel rail.
