Description
Cobblers The Tiddler consists of two adjoining cottages dating from the 17th century. They are built from painted slatestone rubble and cob, with an asbestos slate roof that has gable ends, likely originally thatched. The axial stone rubble stack mentioned in a previous description has been removed. The left cottage features a two-room central passage plan, while the right cottage has a one-room end-entry plan. Both cottages are two storeys high, with the left cottage displaying two windows on the road front and the right cottage showing one window.
The left cottage has a central doorway that is now partly blocked, with a horned 12-pane sash window. There are hornless 16-pane sash windows on the left and right. The ground floor windows have wooden lintels with heavy ovolo moulding and slate sills. On the first floor, there are two closer spaced windows featuring old 20-pane, two-light casements. The right cottage has a doorway on the right with a 20th-century glazed door, a 16-pane hornless sash window on the left, and a 16-pane two-light casement window above. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages are included for their group value.
