Description
A group of three adjoining houses, originally known as Manor Cottage, Harbour Cottage, and Les Ferris Sailing School. The earliest part, Manor Cottage, likely dates to the 17th century, while the remainder of the group was built in 1835, as indicated by a datestone in the front wall. The construction uses painted slatestone rubble, with Manor Cottage rendered and the rest of the group featuring painted slate hanging. The roofs are hipped and covered in asbestos slate. There are axial brick stacks over the left party wall of the main block and a later stone stack on the east wall of Manor Cottage. The houses are arranged irregularly, with two rooms per cottage and side and end entrances.
The Manor Cottage has a two-window return front, while the main block has a four-window front. The Manor Cottage's entrance is on the left, featuring a 20th-century door and two-light casements. The main block has box porches to the left side wall and between the ground floor windows 2 and 3. A boarded door is on the left, and a pair of top-glazed doors are on the right. Original 16-pane hornless sash windows remain on the ground and first floors to the right. Later replacement sashes are elsewhere, with 20th-century windows filling the first-floor openings 1 and 2. The ground floor windows have cambered brick arches and slate sills. The right corner of the building is splayed.
The interior of Manor Cottage retains a 19th-century cast iron range and some original planked doors. The interiors of the other cottages were not inspected. The group sits in an important position on the harbour front in the middle of the village.
