Description

A row of three cottages, now combined into a single house, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble, with a rag slate roof and gable ends. Brick chimney stacks are present on the gable ends, and two axial stacks provide heating for two rooms in the central cottage.

Originally planned as a central two-room cottage with a central entrance, flanked by a one-room cottage on either side, the left-hand cottage likely originally contained a staircase hall to the right of the entrance, while the right-hand cottage mirrored the layout. The entrance to the central cottage has since been blocked.

The house is two storeys high and features a regular four-window front with hornless sash windows containing crown glass. The left-hand cottage has a lower roofline than the cottages on the right. It has a 20th-century plank door on the left, and a 16-pane sash window on both the ground and first floors. The central cottage originally had a symmetrical two-window front; the ground floor now features two 16-pane sashes flanking a blocked entrance, with 16-pane and 6-pane sashes above. The right-hand cottage has an entrance now located within a single-storey outshut on its right side, with a 12-pane sash window and a 6-pane sash window above.

The interior has not been inspected. The building forms part of a terrace adjacent to Filkins Cottage.
