Description

A pair of cottages, now combined into a single property, dating to the 1840s. The building is constructed from painted stone rubble with a steeply pitched slate roof, featuring gable ends and two gabled dormers to the front. The rear has a projecting wing with a gable end, and the gable ends feature projecting rubblestone stacks with brick shafts. The cottages were originally arranged in a T-shape. Historically, each cottage likely had an entrance directly into the main room, with a dairy to the rear. The front of the building is symmetrical with three windows. The ground floor has two original entrances, probably located in what is now the centre of the front but they have been blocked and are covered by a slate hood. Flanking these are two triple windows with one light each, containing casements with glazing bars, also beneath slate hoods. Above, the dormers contain three-light windows with a raised central light and moulded frames. Between the dormers are two two-light casements. A lean-to porch has been added to the rear for access. Internally, simple granite lintels are visible above the fireplaces.
