Description
The gate and attached walls located to the south-east of the Church of St Martin date from the 18th century and mid-19th century. They are constructed from slatestone rubble with some granite dressings and feature a wrought-iron gate. The layout consists of a grid style, flanked by walls, with the gate positioned at the outer (east) end. This gate is connected to steps leading down to the road and is likely linked to older walls on the left (west) extending for approximately 45 meters and on the right extending for about 35 meters. The gate has ramped sides and is adorned with cast-iron spearhead finials over the bars and urn finials over the stiles.
