Description
Filkins Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with slate-hung cladding on the front and part of the left-hand gable end. The roof is made of rag slate and features gable ends, along with a truncated projecting stone rubble stack for the hall and kitchen on the left-hand gable end. The cottage has a two-room layout, possibly with a cross passage, where the larger hall and kitchen on the left is heated by the gable end stack, while the unheated room on the right is not.
The building is two storeys high with an asymmetrical two-window front. On the ground floor, there are two early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows with crown glass, and to the right of centre, there is a 20th-century rendered and glazed porch with a part-glazed four-panel door. The first floor features two hornless 8-pane sash windows. There is a lean-to outshut on the left-hand gable end. The interior has not been inspected. Filkins Cottage forms part of a terrace with St Catherines adjoining on the right-hand side.
