Description

Trevaunance House, including the gate-piers and flanking walls, is a house dating from the early 19th century, possibly a refronting of an older structure. The front is made of coursed slate killas, while the rest of the building features cob and painted rubble. There are elvan arches above the openings at the front. The roof has asbestos slate at the front and grouted scantle slate at the rear and on the lean-to to the right. Brick chimneys are located over the gable ends. The house has a double depth plan with two rooms at the front flanking a central entrance hall that likely leads to a stair hall between rear service rooms. A later 19th-century lean-to is situated on the right side.

The exterior is two stories high with a symmetrical three-window south front and a central doorway. The original door and windows are set in openings that are spanned by shallow segmental arches with projecting keystones. The door is a four-panel design with round-arched top panels and an overlight, while the windows are 16-pane hornless sashes. A gateway is positioned at a right angle to the front corner of the house at the roadside, featuring square-on-plan gate-piers that are flanked by low concave quadrant-on-plan granite ashlar walls with shaped granite copings. The interior has not been inspected.
