Description
Nos. 96 and 98 on Meneage Street are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed from granite ashlar, featuring a plinth, a first-floor sill string, and granite lintels. The cottages have a fairly steep asbestos slate roof and share brick end stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a four-window range. The windows are late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes, including a canted pilastered oriel on the right, which has a moulded cornice. On the left, there are two doorways; one has an original six-panel door with later glazed top panels and a squat overlight, while the other doorway is blocked with granite ashlar. There is also a former passage doorway at the far right, which features a 20th-century top-glazed door. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
