Description
No. 89 Meneage Street is a town house with a later shop, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughly-coursed granite rubble with granite dressings, including lintels, and features an asbestos slate roof with a brick stack on the left. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range.
The original windows are 16-pane hornless sashes situated above a complete mid to late 19th-century double shop front. This shop front has panelled end pilasters with paired consoles and round-arched heads that rise above a moulded cornice of a moulded entablature with a fascia. Flanking the central splayed doorway are 9-pane windows, and the doorway itself features a pair of glazed doors with a 2-pane overlight. To the left of the shop front, there is a house doorway with an original 6-panel door and overlight. Additionally, to the right of the shop front, there is a small Victorian letterbox set into the wall. The interior has not been inspected.
