Description
This building is a barn located approximately 85 meters northwest of Trelissick House. It dates from around the mid-19th century and has been remodeled as offices by the National Trust. The structure is built of slatestone rubble with brick arches and features a ripped dry Delabole slate roof. There is a 20th-century axial chimney. The barn has a rectangular plan and stands two stories high. The east front, which overlooks a courtyard, has an irregular arrangement of five windows. All openings feature shallow arches above them. The windows are 20th-century casements, and the doors are 20th-century ledged and braced. One window is blocked, while at least two others are 20th-century insertions, and two are in the positions of former doorways. To the far left, there is an external flight of granite steps with a wrought iron handrail, designed in a style reminiscent of the early 19th century. The interior has not been inspected. This barn is included in the listing for its group value with Trelissick House.
