Description
This is a barn located approximately 10 metres west of Tredrea Manor Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century with later extensions in the 19th century. The building is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings and copper slag blocks, topped with an asbestos slate roof featuring gable ends on the taller right-hand range and a hip-ended scantle slate roof on the lower original range, which was heightened in the early 20th century. The barn has an L-shaped plan, with the original rectangular building extended at the front of the right-hand side in the mid to late 19th century. It was adapted around the late 19th or early 20th century to function as a mill powered by an external three-horse whim, the iron hub of which can still be found a few metres to the northeast.
The exterior of the barn is two-storeys high. The original southeast front features a later gable-ended wing on the right side, which faces left. The original barn has a central doorway flanked by small windows, with another small window on the first floor to the left of the middle and a loading doorway to the right. The front of the later section is symmetrical, with a ground floor doorway and a loading doorway above it, along with ground and first floor windows on either side. The rear has a wide doorway on the left and some blocked openings. The right-hand wall includes a doorway on the right and a first floor window with original shutters on the left. The left-hand wall of the hipped end has a central first floor window. Most openings retain old or original doors and windows. The interior has not been inspected.
