Description

The Roskruge headstones, located approximately 4 meters south of the Church of St. Anthony, are two adjoining headstones dating from 1797 and 1800. Both are square-headed, incised slate monolith slabs. The left-hand stone is inscribed to Richard John Roskruge, who died in 1800 at the age of 30. The right-hand stone commemorates Richard Roskruge, who died in 1897 at the age of 66, with the inscription: "Killed when in the Execution of his Office as Surveyor of the Highways by a Blow on the Head."
