Description
Halamana Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It features painted cob walls resting on rubble footings, with slate sills and wooden lintels. The building has a thatched roof with rendered chimneys at the gable ends. There are two single-storey extensions added in the 20th century, one with a thatched roof on the left and another with a flat roof on the right. Originally, the cottage had a two-room layout, with a parlour on the left and a much larger hall/kitchen on the right, connected by a passage leading to a stair at the rear. The cottage is two storeys tall and has a slightly irregular arrangement of two windows on the east of the south front. There is a doorway with a 20th-century door and porch to the left of the centre. The window opening to the right of the doorway was likely cut in the 20th century, while the right-hand opening features an original 12-pane, 2-light casement with wide glazing bars. There is also a 12-pane, 2-light casement at the far left and later 4-pane casements on the first floor. The cob texture is well-preserved on both the front and rear of the cottage. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage overlooks Gillan Creek, with the village of St. Anthony in Meneage located opposite.
